The clouds in the colorful sky at sunrise look like the sails of a boat SAILING

Jo Ann Tomaselli ~ Fine Art Photography

On this particular morning the colorful clouds at sunrise swept across the sky and formed, what looked to me,
the angular shape of a boats’ sails.  The long exposure added a dreamy movement to the sky & water
and I felt I could peacefully sail-away wrapped in the beauty of the day.

Sometimes the landscape brings to mind a particular song which inspires the image title.
On this morning I found myself humming the Christopher Cross song ‘Sailing’

Well, it’s not far down to paradise, at least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility

It’s not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again

Well it’s not far back to sanity, at least it’s not for me

I’ve been working on a lot of custom work so far in 2015!  Paintings and portraits for special people.  I was recently asked to create a custom piece featuring this beautiful dog.  Here is what her guardian has to say:

And yes, of course share Luna’s story!  I can give you a few more details b/c she has a pretty sad story with what we think is a happy ending.  When she was rescued (after having been abandoned in Ohio and sent to a high kill shelter), she was blind, severely overweight (120 pounds), and had bilateral cranial crucial ligament disease. She was put on an aggressive diet and she is now down to a svelte 75 pounds.  After we adopted her in March we got her first CCL repaired, but then we discovered a mast…

I hope you’re not tiring of the Palace of Fine Arts because I still have some images left to show you!

This main structure spoke to me in so many ways as you probably have gathered from the last few images I’ve posted of POFA The light slanting in from the side looked mysterious, so I tried to capture that when processing the image.

You can really get a sense of how huge this place is when you see the people standing there.

The Palace of Fine Arts or “POFA” was erected in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to display works of art.  This is one of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, and it’s the only one still situated on its original site. It was rebuilt in 1965, and renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and a seismic retrofit were completed in early 2009.   For those…

I’ve been busy making some changes in my life.  I am no longer following the same routine each day and changing things up to keep it fresh!  Much to my great surprise, I have discovered that “walking away” from my job for 1, 2, 3 or even 4 days hasn’t changed my sales at all.  So I am planning a lot more “me” time this year. 🙂  I know that a more relaxed and happier me will make a better artist for all of my fans.

“Each building has to be beautiful, but cheap and fast, but it lasts forever. That is already an incredible battery of seemingly contradictory demands. So yes, I’m definitely perhaps a contradictory person, but I operate in very contradictory times.”

-Rem Koolhaas, Dutch, Architect
