I’ve been working on a few more new birds.  I tend to gravitate to what I know and what is around me in my Florida environment.  These are two favorites.  Enjoy!

Mamma Rose

Amazing work by Laura Macky!

lauramacky's avatarLaura Macky Photography

This rose presented itself to me as if in a dream with the baby rosebuds following behind the mamma, so to speak.  They will follow the Mamma rose with proper fertilization and care until they bloom in all their adult glory, only to fade with time only to make new way for other roses.

And so it goes with life……..I can only dream that with every new life comes proper guidance and love so that we can make the world a better place.

A Waltz Among the Autumn Leaves II

Amazing work both visual and verbal!

the surrendered dancers
coupled in nature’s rite
destined to become one
with Earth and Sun
and come to know
all the intimate seasons
of their celestial lovemaking

waking from a winter’s dream
the tender Earth yearning
for the rousing touch
of the burgeoning Sun
slowly pirouettes
within the circle
of my arms
turning all the contours
of her resplendent body
though the steady grasp
of my caressing hands
aching now
as the flush of spring
life beneath the surface
urgent to blossom

the breathless gasp
of flowers unfolding
to move through her
as slowly
as the electric Sun
on a long summer’s day
across the arching sky
drawing the folds
of every petal
at they trace the Sun’s
measured path
upon her undulating body

and then ardent autumn
at the climax of the rite
exclamations of color
vibrant intensity
pulsating through her landscape
then, once more, release
of sanguine cascade

Monochrome Monday: The Eye of Knowledge

Spectacular imagery Indah!

indahs's avatarindahs: dive, travel & photography

One of amazing architecture designs by Santiago Calatrava together with Félix Candela: Hemispheric Planetarium in Valencia (Spain). With the building’s own reflection on the surrounding water pool, the building and its reflection becomes an eye. The bottom of the pool is covered by mirror to give the illusion. The planetarium itself is the center of the City of Arts and Sciences and called as the eye of knowledge. The whole concept blew my mind, after all, shouldn’t we have our eyes open to the knowledge and our surroundings?

Self Portrait

Mixed Media Art Painting Collage

Long before the Internet, cell phones and the modern day “selfie”, artists were hard at work creating self portraits.  It was a right of passage of sorts for some and for others it was just practical.  It wasn’t always easy to get models, nor could the average artist afford to pay.  So naturally, they turned to themselves.

Frida Kahlo is one famous example of an artist who mostly painted her own image. She is noted as saying:

“I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.”
Frida Kahlo

I believe this is true for many artists.  We spend a lot of time in solitude working tirelessly to perfect our craft.  We curse to an empty studio when we are agonizing over a piece and we dance in delight to ourselves as audience when…

“Colorful Trumpet”

New Artwork

Sharon Cummings

2014

Just making a little noise today with my new series “Color Fusion”.  I do not have a lot of experience with trumpets.  My memories involved high school football games and lots of ringing ears.  The rooster piece is a tribute to my childhood buddy named “spur”.  I say that with sarcasm, because not only was he a noisy little beast at 5 in the morning, he also liked to chase us and get us with his sharp talons.  These guys look cute, but don’t be fooled…
