DogDaysOfSummer

It’s that time of year again.  Around the second week of July I start to get frantic emails from other artists asking me why the sales have all dried up. Some are so afraid of the lack of traffic and sales that they fear that the online art market has crashed.  These emails come from people who are relatively new to selling their work on the Internet.  Relax.  This is normal. Sure I am still making regular sales, but only at a fraction of what I earn most of the time.  This part of the year it always slows down to a crawl.

Why?  It’s Summertime!!  And folks who have been trapped inside all Winter are finally able to get outside and enjoy sunshine and green grass.  Families go on vacation, prepare older kids for college, go to family reunions and travel a lot in general.  It is not a time for decorating your…

New Landscape Painting In Red and Green

Gorgeous!

lauracarteroriginals's avatarLaura Carter Art

I just finished a new painting, the shape is kind of cool because it’s long and thin, measuring 10×30 inches. The red and green in this painting are really vibrant and there is a subtle texture that picked up some of the running colours adding more texture and interest.

I really love this colour combination and lately have wanted to repaint my living room. I’m not sure yet but this red is really calling to me. We have black/brown pine floors and the current colour is butter yellow. But this red, on at least one or two walls would be incredibly rich and vibrant.

Before we had yellow walls and the black/brown floors I had two of the walls painted black against a caramel coloured floor. Black seems extreme but it actually worked really well. I have so much art on my walls that ends up covering a lot of…

Sunset Storm and Moon from Longmont to Boulder CO Panorama

Amazing!

Sunset Storm and Moon from Longmont to Boulder CO Panorama

July 9th, 2014, Boulder County Colorado, scenic panorama landscape of a storm front with an almost full moon and blue sky above that reaches from Longmont to Boulder at sunset .  A view from highway 36 between Lyons and Boulder at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains looking northeast to southeast.  The thunderstorm came in from the northwest, heading southeast…. kinda weird.   This is a very large 11 portrait wide angle images with major over lapping to get this effect.  It took four hours to complete the processing.  Hope you like.
