A Storm Within

ashadeofpen's avatarA Shade Of Pen

I had the wonderful opportunity to stumble across David Ellis, a handsome British poet/magician and a man of various skills. I had so much fun writing this and I am very sure there are too many to follow. This is my first Daily Prompt and  I hope I do it right. Lol, I could ever get the hang of it fully. Still, I am trying.. sweating.. still trying 😀

There is a storm within
Somehow, I feel the rage
As a part inside of me aches

Are You A Perfectionist?

Let’s Get To Work!!

As I start off the new year with new work I am reminded to strive to be my personal best.  For my entire life I have been labeled a “perfectionist” by family, friends, bosses and coworkers.  I used to think this was a bad thing.  A judgement call against me.  But today, psychology has established that there are two types of perfectionism.  Normal perfectionists pursue perfection without compromising their self-esteem, and derive pleasure from their efforts. Neurotic perfectionists strive for unrealistic goals and consistently feel dissatisfied when they cannot reach them.  I was happy to learn years ago that I was in fact “normal”. 🙂  I always have goals in mind that I know I can accomplish and I write up a plan to achieve them.  I work hard to get through the outline I created and when I arrive I have a deep satisfaction in my efforts…

2013 An Intermission…

Happy New Year!

I am interrupting my regularly scheduled blog to make a reflective post today.  Yes, my blogs have been scheduled for the past two weeks because I felt it was more important to spend time with my husband, family and friends.  I took an intermission.  I scheduled rather than leave each day empty because I’ve had a lot to say in 2013 and I felt some bore repeating.  From all of the great comments, retweets, shares and likes I have received, I know it was the right choice.

For me 2013 was an amazing year both personally and business wise.  There were a lot of changes and in retrospect each of them were positive.  Sure I made some mistakes, but there is no success without some failure.

One of the changes I made was to focus on marketing my prints.  For years I resisted selling prints with the…

I know a lot of artists read my blog…..And this is too good not to share. So I was trying this “miracle” egg white application to fix a droopy eyelid….One of my eyes has a heavier lid, so I figured what the heck…I will try it! Anyway….no miracle there. But after my show I discovered one of my huge canvases had support bar marks all the way across the canvas from being pressed too hard into it….No amount of spraying water on the back and drying was getting them out….I gave up last night. Then this morning as I am egg whiting my eye lid…The light bulb went off!! LOL….So I smeared the egg white all over the back near the marks including where the marks were and I then blowed it with my hairdryer on low heat until dry…Viola!! Marks completely gone!! Sooooo if you ever have a canvas…

This time of year when I am busy working like one of Santa’s elves and hustling about trying to get my Holiday shopping done, it is easy to forget that so many people in our world, country, state, city and neighborhood will not be having a “merry” Christmas.  For many just getting to their next meal is a blessing.  However, every year the Universe sends me a reminder to be giving.  To show compassion and love.  There is always a homeless person I encounter each year whose eyes speak to me in a way I cannot adequately explain.  I almost feel as if it is God looking back at me saying, “I have given so much to you, will you give something back?”  I always give large bills even though they are asking only for spare change.  I also make a point to touch them by gently squeezing their…
