A very gloomy Monday morning brings me to the idea of uncertainty. Yes a very uncomfortable subject in a cold place. What joy this brings me 🙂 I know it probably sounds funny but I am struck by how much I am going to choose to be at peace with not knowing what will happen next. I truly have no control over future events and I think that I might finally be OK with that fact. My artwork today is displaying my hesitation and eventual acceptance. Finding My Happy Place Abstract Healing Art

Where is it that I find joy. For me it is not in anything external. My true joy is found deep within. At the very center of who I am is my “happy place”. Here is where I go to heal and to refresh. The essence is calm and blue, harmonious and peaceful. I will go here when I need to and this will be my path back to joy. The outside world is just that and really has no bearing on who I want to be and how I want to live my life. So I pay homage to this idea in my artwork today. Loving All of the Complexities of Life

Life is simple and it is complicated. All in how you want to look at it and what your particular situation is. I choose to love the complexities of life and revel in their colorful mysteries. A flat life would be a colorless one indeed and yet a life saturated in color can start to look colorless as well. I believe that the beauty is in the many variations and how I choose to interpret them. Look closely here and you can see all of the very subtle tales being told. Insights and Awareness

As life goes on it will either get simpler or more difficult. Nothing ever seems to stay the same. The lessons learned along the way are recorded for my future use and often times this will help me through on another day. Sometimes the experiences I have will change mein ways I could never imagine possible. When this is the case a riot of colorful images are forever imprinted. When I need them most insights will come and awareness can be full. My artwork here is representing all of the memories I have stored and recorded with my eyes. The indistinct quality is everything I don’t remember and yet what is crystal clear to me. Vision can see some things and then the rest of us will record what else is possible. A moment in time harbors a lifetime of experience.

Beautiful and delicate, Bowl Lotus ‘Beautiful Dancer’ appears to glow in the soft afternoon sunlight.

I’ve been growing waterlilies for years, and they always take off and bloom fantastically in my tiny ponds. Growing lotus has been much more of a challenge. I’ve selected the smallest lotus type available, called “bowl lotus,” and they are supposed to do well in small pots.

The first year I grew them was a complete failure, as raccoons used the water to vigorously wash their food and paws each night, and the tiny signs of life from each lotus soon vanished and I was left with rotting tubers. The bloom on ‘Beautiful Dancer’ pictured above is from my second attempt at growing lotus (last year), and out of my three lotus plants it was the only one to successfully grow and bloom. Which Way is Up Abstract Healing Art

Sometimes life is really confusing to me and I am not really sure which direction I am going in.  My brain circles around ideas and comes up with chaos. Drama and misdirection are a meal of choice for my overactive imagination. The end result of all of this is runaway fear and anxiety. Where does it start, round and round I go, and where I stop is really my choice. The trick for me is realizing when to decide that I choose to worry about anything. Living in the here and now the way is clear. At the center of it all is the answer but everything else seems to crowd in and make it less distinct. Look closely and I will find happiness. A Golden Iris Singing Natures Joyful Tune

One of my favorite subjects are flowers. I really enjoy their colors and shapes and they way that they bring joy to the beholder. In my opinion the ultimate art is found in nature and she is the master artist. The fine detail and amazing shades of light and dark are just wonderful. I could stare at flowers forever and never tire of their vibrant awareness. Many of these beauties are planted in my garden and each spring I welcome their arrival with a smile and a few hundred photographs 🙂 Some will make their way into my home to be enjoyed inside and some will color the outdoors. This particular flower reminds me of a song. I see a golden throat open wide with delight and I can almost hear its joy as it releases this gorgeous energy into the universe.

Angels and Other Protective Forces Abstract Healing Art

When I finished this piece I realized that I had painted Angels circling and protecting. I was also struck by the idea of a heavenly light and connection to another location. The colors here are all of the colors of the rainbow and my heavenly companions are all in blue. Red represents life and green is experience. White and gold are heaven and love. All of it is the same and connected and here every day. I am intrigued also by the sense of depth and multidimensional connectivity. All in a single image and basically flat. I feel drawn into the scene and yet I am already a part of the scene. I wonder how much of life is happening that we simply don’t have the capacity to see.
