THIS IS A SCHEDULED POST – the next posts starting with this one have been scheduled. I had to leave a trace behind for about a week lol!
These were all taken with my 28-300mm lens at a butterfly greenhouse. It was challenging light and the butterflies were flying all over the place. Some of these are not as crisp as I’d like but for my first try at this kind of thing, I think they turned out ok.

I’ve spent the past couple of years struggling to hold my camera due to issues with my hands and arms. I was accustomed to living a life full of my pure love for photography – handholding 300mm lenses while stalking herons, keeping my body still in awkward positions for long periods of time to try and fulfill my vision for a photograph, planning trips and schedules around what, where, and when to photograph. I became incredibly frustrated, going through periods where I wasn’t able to photograph at all, and other times I had pain-filled outings that were struggles, no longer moments of joy. Beautiful!
We just got back from a few days off the grid, hanging out with moose in the indian peaks wilderness area. Here is a view and reflections from Brainard Lake of the Indian Peaks Wilderness area, in Boulder County Colorado with the Milky Way overhead in the Sky. This is my all time favorite place on the planet. A planned astrophotography shot for a long time. We were lucky to get clear skies.
The Indian Peaks Wilderness is a wilderness area located in north central Colorado, west of Boulder, managed jointly by the United States Forest Service and the National Park Service within the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and small parts of the southern section of Rocky Mountain National Park. This image was created from a shot I took up on Mt. Diablo of the sun setting over the valley. I love this time of evening…it’s so quiet and the burst of color before nightfall is like one last yawn before bedtime.

I first discovered Cornelis Verwaal in 2013. I was instantly drawn in to his work, his sensibilities. What is it about Cornelis that made him stand out from so many other New York photographers?
Is it his uncanny ability to find “the decisive moment” in the vein of Henri Cartier-Bresson? Is it his mastery of light and shadow, of composition? Perhaps. Or perhaps its the way he affirms the humanity of us all and does it in the midst of one of the most populous, hurried, compact cities in the world. People on their cell phones, people proposing, people singing and playing instruments, people eating lunch or pondering modern art. Even when viewing Cornelis’ exceptional architectural photography you sense the people who inhabit New York’s structures, streets and stairways. You see signs of them all around, even when they are not seen.

Whoa! Amazing capture Bo!
Sunset from another planet, a colorful alien sky with the satellite dish antennas on Table Mountain in Boulder County, Colorado. This is 400 images taken of the sunset a couple seconds apart and then stacked on top of each other. I have always wanted to try this. Hope you like.
