“Very few people possess true artistic ability. It is therefore both unseemly and unproductive to irritate the situation by making an effort. If you have a burning, restless urge to write or paint, simply eat something sweet and the feeling will pass.” – Fran Lebowitz, American author, public speaker

Leaves in the Woods – Monochrome Madness

lauramacky's avatarLaura Macky Photography

This week I decided to try and step out of the box a bit.  I really love trying new things and I’m starting to see which direction I’d like to go with photography which is more out of the box than straight-up photography.  I like to push boundaries and see what I come up with.  Hmm…I guess nothing’s changed since I was a teenager LOL!

The entire challenge can be found later on Leanne Cole’s Site “Monochrome Madness”  so please check it out.

*When all seems lost,
when the world appears to fall apart,
then search within yourself for that quiet inner voice that only leads upward.
Follow the direction of that gentle, yet firm and unrelenting inner voice, to the summit of The Holy Mountain where you will find your God.*

Koi2

I am often asked by people if I have prints of certain paintings in my archives.  So often, I do not.  Ten plus years ago when I started painting and selling my art for a career, I did not have a camera that could take pictures with high enough resolution to produce quality prints.  I am lucky to get small prints of some.  A few have been successfully digitally remastered as well.  But my “Koi” were a no go on both fronts.  The piece above has been very popular for me as a commission and I absolutely enjoy painting them!  However, I wanted to be able to create prints as well.  So I painted one specifically for this purpose.  Now this piece can be enjoyed in a massive size!  Enjoi the koi!

S.U.M.M.E.R.’S Brightest…

S.U.M.M.E.R.’S Brightest!………………… #florida #beach

sharoncummings's avatarAbstract Art by Sharon Cummings

ImageThe Summer sun is particularly brutal this time of year in Florida.  Temperatures soar and it is nearly impossible to spend time outside during the hottest part of the day.  As I head back to my retreat after a long walk along the ocean, I am always stuck by how parched and dead everything is on the dunes.  It looks brittle and bare.  But there are these little bursts of color dotting the landscape.  Yellow flowers that withstand the most demanding months of Summer.  The Beach Sunflower……Summer’s brightest!

I will be away for awhile….see you when I get back!
