Stars Coming Out At Night

I am a dreamer by nature. I love to consider the possibilities at all times. Lose myself in a million colorful stories and drift off on the fertile winds of my imagination. Remaining grounded is often my biggest challenge as my mind takes me on incredible adventures. How many of my dreams become realities and/or do I even want them to? Is it more satisfying in the end to live in my make believe worlds or is it infinitely better to take the steps needed to connect with a solid plan. I had a funny thought the other day. Are dreams without plans in effect fantasies? And are fantasies a “bad” thing? Where is the line that I cross when something so pleasurable becomes painful and I can’t even see it? These are the questions I ask myself when I have time to relax and…

I really had no idea that digital art could be so much fun.  I have always been a traditional paint slinger.  My paintings have always sold really well and I have earned most of my living off of commissioned and original art for the past 10 years. But times they are a changin’…..I see more and more AMAZING digital art online and I am starting to really love it.  It is just a different medium.  Throughout History artists have used any and all medium available to create artwork.  It is a sign of true creativity when you are willing to embrace new technologies…acrylic paint was controversial when it first appeared to the Fine Art scene.  Traditional oil painters scoffed.  I imagine the charcoal drawers didn’t care much for oil paint.  And so it is with digital.  Some artists shun it as if it were the devil.  I did myself…

Innocence Reborn

I have come to many conclusions lately and one of my most powerful revelations has been the idea that I will go back to the place that I started my journey here, and live it from a perspective of how I choose and not what was thrust upon me. I have the power to make my own choices and determine the course of the rest of my life. Blessings have been mine as I realize that not every human being has this ability in their life. I am going to seize the moment and discover the fullness of life now. No longer letting others plot my courses is going to be the best thing for me. Where I will go is all about taking charge and loving the process. Too many years were spent feeling as though I would be grateful for the kindness of others and content…

Yes indeed…..I am on fire!!  I visualized my dreams….I spoke of them as if they were already happening.  I believed.  And now I have exceeded them!  So in celebration I have digitally remastered one of my most popular pieces.  “Hearts On Fire”.  It has always been one of my favorites from my work.  The colors in this painting really “click” with me and the sizzling fire just gets me happy!  It used to only be available as a very small print, but now you can SET YOUR WALLS ON FIRE very large!  Enjoy!

I believe everyone has skeletons in their closet.  Today I am posting a special piece. When I was a little girl, something really awful happened to me on a bright yellow bedspread. For years, I avoided the color. I painted with blues, greens, reds, purples, earth tones, but left out yellow unless someone requested it. It is such a happy beautiful color and it wasn’t right to leave it out of my work. About 7 years ago I had therapy for PTSD using EMDR which helped me disassociate the negativity I had attached to this wonderful hue. I have triumphed over it and now EMBRACE it! It makes me happy to see yellow in my work now…….

A Warrior Spirit Abstract Healing Art

Healing is an interesting concept to me because it involves both our physical and emotional bodies. Pain and suffering can cause deep pain and wounding and when this is the case then a process of regrowth is necessary to get back to where we were prior to our loss. I am working through my own life and experiences and realizing that my inner self is much more difficult to heal than my physical self. The scars are deep and yet not visible on the surface in a way that is apparent to the causal observer. Hidden things are always more difficult to find and I believe that this is why they tend to stay in the dark. Fortunately for me my inner warrior is fighting to save me and heal me at the same time. I have found a way out of the dark…

Perfect Company

AloneTimeFBSometimes you have to take a new look at an old piece and see a better way to present it.  This one has languished in my portfolio long enough.  It was good, but not great.  I took this photograph a few years ago while on vacation with my husband in Sarasota, Florida.  It was high tourist season and the beaches were filled with screaming children, lobster people and old folks slathered in sunscreen. As we walked the shore after dinner, there was this one magic moment.  A little girl playing in the sand all alone.  She was not playing with any of the other children nearby.  Mom and Dad watched from a safe distance and it just struck me that she looked so happy.  Completely oblivious to her surroundings…totally absorbed in the pleasure of the beach sand….she had “Perfect Company”.

Black Magic!  I have really enjoyed creating my Black Magic pieces for many years and recently I discovered a cool way to make them even cooler.  I digitally inverted them so that the black in the magic is now white.  They look totally different this way and the effects have been very popular.  These are now in homes all over the world.  Black and White is so clean and neutral.  These would look good in just about any space.  Enjoy an old favorite in a new way!

Golden Surprises In the Methow River

Do you ever look into the water and imagine what you might see in there. I love to look deeply and let my imagination run wild. In this image I see a golden turtle noticing that it is being watched. Surprise and dismay cloak this creatures face as it realizes the transparency of its situation. What will I do now that I am aware of this beautiful fantasy. Enjoy it of course. Leave it in peace and wonder where it will travel to next 🙂

What do you see when you look at this photograph that was turned into abstract painting?
