Life is just a fantasy, can you live this fantasy life? ~Aldo Nova

Fantasy Life

What do you see here? I am loving the blue color I have invoked. It sits calmly in the center of the screen just waiting for your eye to wander there. What is is and where did it come from. Is this blue void going to swallow us whole or just wait patiently until our eyes are ready to melt into it. Explore all of the textures and color variations. I have painted many wondeful mysteries into this scene.

I enjoy digital painting and photography. My images are all representative of this. I like to start with my camera and see what I can discover and then go to my computer and again see what I can discover. Art is a discovery process for me when I am free to create. I like to let my imagination wander and see what I come up with. Not all of it is…

the many moods of godzilla

wpcphoto's avatarwilliam patrick photo

I just couldn’t resist doing this one! Also, my top 5 favorite trivia facts about the original 1954 film, courtesy of IMDB.

1. The name Gojira is a combination of the Japanese words for gorilla (gorira) and whale (kujira). The monster was so named because his original design was that of a gorilla-whale monster, which is recounted by people who worked on the film.

2. Because of the complexity of the production, the entire film was storyboarded. This is believed to be the very first time this was done for a Japanese film.

3. It was not uncommon for a cup of Haruo Nakajima’s sweat to be drained from the Gojira suit.

4. The sound department tried numerous animal roars for Godzilla but felt they were unsuitable for an animal of such immense size. Akira Ifukube came up with Godzilla’s roars…

A Trio of Delicious Vertical Stimulation

owfotografik's avatarAbstract Art by Omaste Witkowski

Delicious ColorsScandalous SurprisesRainbow in a Bottle

I am not sure if anyone can guess, but I love colors. I am experimenting with these bold colors in a new series I am trying. This series is designed to be long and bright. I am setting the sizes the exact same for vertical and horizontal so that these pieces could be hung together in a variety of combinations. I am excited by the new-found vertical pleasures that I am invoking with bold colors, layers and textures. Long and narrow and filled with infinite bliss in the form of abstract brightness. Look for the small details that melt their way down the surface of the textures. You can almost see the paint dripping and drying in ecstasy as it caresses the canvas.

Do you taste a painting or a brightly colored artwork. I have had times where I am working with colors and certain shapes and I…

Have you been to the Canyons lately?

Artistic Wedding Photographer's avatarArtistic Wedding Photographer

I visited the Antelope Canyons some time ago; it was a dream come true. I received as a gift from my husband and all day (8 hours) hiking package with a Navajo Tour Guide to go through 5 of the canyons open at that time with my camera and photograph as I please.

Many people are familiar with Peter Lik, a famous photographer whose art on the same subject I admired so with that in mind (and as a contest of sort) I attacked the canyon with full force. The guide is used to tourists and preferred to point out spots to stand to photograph from but I rejected and so he asked why and I told him that imagine me as Peter Lik; does he also give directions to Peter Lik on what to photograph and from what angle? Hence from that point on I was able to capture…

What a Whale of a Tale. Or is it a Tail of a Whale?

owfotografik's avatarAbstract Art by Omaste Witkowski

Whales

I see a large whale rising out of the ocean. Searching the sky for any sign of other creatures and not so softly sinking back down into the waves. I see blue skies and choppy water. It is amazing to me how a photograph taken of a small section of glass can look like something completely different. A whale in the ocean for example….

I really enjoy taking abstract photographs and visualizing all sorts of stories. This is the way that I see the world. I try to find small realities inside of larger pictures. I enjoy trying to discover mysteries withing everyday things. Some people like it when I try to describe or write about my work and others are not so happy with me directing their thoughts in any one direction.

What do you see when you look at this photograph or has my description forever burned itself…

overwhelmed by technology?

wpcphoto's avatarwilliam patrick photo

Ever feel this way? Driving around one day I came across a broken television abandoned by the side of the road. It was a great chance encounter. I like the contrast between the soft plush children’s teddy bear and the hard metal circuit boards and components left to bake in the summer sun. Since the tv was smashed open and not just dumped there, it was either the work of vandals or someone very angry about their cable package! In any case, frustration with technology is something I and probably everyone else can relate to these days. Now hopefully this blog will post correctly without a server error…

Tiny Bubbles…..

The famous song by Hawaiian singer Don Ho comes to mind when I look at this piece…”Tiny Bubbles…..”  Most of you reading this may be too young to remember it….
But those that do are singing it in your head right now. 🙂  Not a lot to say today as I have a migraine, but perhaps I can find my own remedy to make me feel like he did:

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I’m gonna
Love you till the end of time

Enjoy “Bubbles” and other fish art here:

Hopeful Faces

Hopeful Faces

Colorful and tame, the koi fish in my small backyard pond are always hungry for a tasty treat. They swim up to the top of the pond and beg for a snack, opening and closing their whiskered mouths while lunging their hopeful faces up out of the water. They always make me smile.

I took this photograph several years ago, offered it for sale last year, and totally forgot about it until someone purchased a canvas print of it earlier this month. It makes me happy to imagine this image of my silly koi hanging up in a collector’s home or business, and I hope it brightens their day and gives them as much joy as my fishies bring into my life.
