Another custom portrait of a magnificent creature named Sol.  Horses are dear to my heart as I grew up with them.  I am always touched when someone finds me and wants me to create a special piece of one of their beloved animals.

As an abstract artist, I have had the pleasure of hearing many interpretations of my work over the years.  Some are literal and some our spiritual.  But every once in awhile you get something totally “out there”.  Many years ago one of my art collectors emailed me to say he absolutely loved the piece above titled “Soul Kiss 1” and that his little boy also enjoyed it.  A 5 year old’s take on this painting: “It looks like a flying meatball in outer space!” 🙂  I guess it kinda does…

Red Nautilus Shell Art

Mixed Media

Yesterday someone asked me if I could present my Nautilus Shell landscape rather than portrait.  It required me to move my signature so that it would be in the right place for hanging.  It’s funny because I have been looking at this shell for years in a vertical position.  She is delighted and made a purchase right away.  But it still looks odd to me. My brain wants to move it back to it’s original position.  They say “change” is good, so I will just adjust to this new perspective…

Lightning Striking Longs Peak Foothills 4

Lightning bolts, cloud to ground striking the front range foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains in north Boulder County.  A view of the Twin Peaks, Mount Meeker 13,911 ft. and Longs Peak 14,256 ft. in the distance.

This storm came in fast about 8:30 pm, one thing I have learned about Colorado Lightning storms in the springtime… they come in fast, leave the same way and do not last long.  For me as soon as I saw some flashed in the sky, out the door and landed where I could to get a composition view of Longs Peak. As I was set up shooting a farmer showed up to deliver 8 boxes of live bees, he told me hopefully it will all go well. Lucky for me it did.

The Lightning was all over in less than twenty minutes.  It moved north but died out.  Looking forward to the…

Lianne

Today’s blog is not about me. I dedicate today’s post to my good friend Lianne Schneider who at this moment is in ICU fighting for her life. As a fellow artist, she has been so supportive of my work and many other creatives, both online and in person. She is a giving and kind soul. I cannot express in mere words how much she has meant to the online art community I circle in. I am asking that anyone who reads this to please take a moment to say a prayer for her healing and also for strength for her friends and family. Thank you.

I own the beautiful piece you see above titled: Between Sea And Shore. You can see ALL of Lianne’s beautiful artwork here: http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/lianne-schneider.html

My “Tropical Fish” is my BEST seller on Fine Art America. But he wasn’t my idea. 9 years ago I got a call from a woman in St. Thomas who was in desperate need for artwork. Her home had been destroyed by Hurricane Ivan and while they had rebuilt, they had no artwork for the walls. Living on a small island left her with no choices for huge abstract paintings.Debbie found me online and fell in love with my style and color choices. She needed 27 over sized paintings for a June wedding that would be held on her property. Her home would be filled with guests and she needed big bold splashes of color. The clincher is that she called me in April…and needed 27 paintings by June! Never one to back away from a challenge, I accepted her order and got to work! I painted daily…Some requiring 3…
