Music…My First Love….

Aphrodite never looked so beautiful as in this painting 🙂

Abstract Art by Sharon Cummings

Image I am certainly no Aphrodite, but my first love is music too.  A lot of my art reflects my natural rhythmic thinking. Patterns that move and flow.  I grew up with the sounds of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.  Later when my family moved to the country I was introduced to the sounds of Marty Robbins and Charlie Rich.  I love all music….classic rock….country….classical…50’s….60’s….70’s…80’s….contemporary pop and even some rap.  When I am painting, I am always listening to music. Sometimes I dance around with the paint brushes.  At other times I am sitting still…concentrating.  It is in these times of stillness that I prefer simple music…an acoustic guitar….a piano…solo.  Perhaps a solo guitar or just the sound of piano is to music what abstract is to art.
