Scenic landscape autumn season view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains Longs Peak showing the inverted diamond on the east face.,  one of the 53 mountains with summits over 14,000 feet in Colorado.  Clear blue skies over the continental divide another beautiful fall day.  At 14,259 feet, Longs Peak towers above all other summits in Rocky Mountain National Park.

It is named after Major Stephen Long, who explored the area in the 1820s. Longs Peak is one of the most prominent mountains in Colorado, rising nearly 10,000 feet above the western edge of the Great Plains.

Together with the nearby Mount Meeker, the two are sometimes referred to as the Twin Peaks (not to be confused with a nearby lower mountain called Twin Sisters).
