Hungry Like A Wolf

Wolves are fascinating creatures.  Hollywood has portrayed them as aggressive malicious animals that attack humans for no reason, when in fact they are quite shy.  They will attack if threatened of course as anyone would, but they prefer to live peacefully in their territory. These beautiful creatures form family units and live and hunt as such.  Each pack has an Alpha male and an Alpha female which protects and cares for the rest of their group which can be from 4 – 7 wolves.  Everyone shares in the responsibility of pup rearing.  Mating happens once a year and only the Alpha female gets this privilege.  Wolves are quite large and can get to 200 pounds.  They use their fur and howl to communicate with others.  Sadly their population is declining mainly due to habitat loss.  In my art I try to convey the beauty and majesty of…

A Note From God

sharoncummings's avatarAbstract Art by Sharon Cummings

The above piece is our new puppy named “Coffee”.  I love animals.  You can see it in my artwork and you can see it in my home.  I’ve always had furry or feathered companions my entire life.  Cats, dogs, birds, goats and pigs….all were my friends at some point.  Which means I’ve had to say goodbye to a lot of buddies.  Recently I lost my Great Dane Sampson.  I don’t know how the Universe works…but this message below made me cry.  Inside I’ve been struggling with Sampson’s death….I’ve felt bad wondering if I made the right decisions for him…..and it made me think of other animals that I’ve had in the past….wondering if I could have done better for them too….I loved them all very much and always did what I felt was right….I feel like they all sent this today to give me peace….

Six months ago I signed…

Moonlight Sprite

The title of this work is Moonlight Sprite

This is my first official black and white artwork. I am usually really drawn to color but for some reason this image was telling me it wanted to be presented this way. This magical dance of water in the moonlight.

Most parents tell their children not to throw rocks. I am slightly different in this way. I ask my son to throw rocks 🙂 Not at others (of course) but into the water. I stand with my camera and photograph the water and what it does as it is displaced from its original space. What elements capture the air and how do they fly. Each image I am recording is unique and mysterious. This one in particular was created at the time of the day when light is fading fast and enchantment is in the air. What a special time to share…

If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees. ~Khalil Gibran

owfotografik's avatarAbstract Art by Omaste Witkowski

Stretching SecretsTall pine trees stand as sentinels watching over the river flows gently by. The secrets that these trees have encountered are numerous and salacious I am sure. Or maybe not. The souls that have lingered here for a short time may have been virtuous and unassuming. The leaves and the water tell no tales as they are rooted to the earth and silent indeed.

A tree is a silent reminder that all who live have roots. Deep and hidden and yet essential to life. We do not survive without our roots and they do not survive without us. The leaves that are sprouted from our very core are an outward example that we flourish. Without these reminders it is easy to forget that we are not alone.

What are your roots, what keeps you grounded and nourishes you. Where is it that you came from that guides you to this…

Basking In The Glory….

BITGprint

I created this sunflower art many years ago using my signature “Labor of Love” style.  When I listed it for sale, it sold immediately…..within minutes!  It’s always been a favorite of mine, but for many years it languished as a print listing without much interest.  I’ve always wondered why and now I know!  It just wasn’t getting any traffic!  Two days ago Fine Art America promoted this piece to email subscribers (I did not know they were going to do this).  The response was phenomenal!  I got tons of comments, inquiries for commissions and I’ve sold 15 prints so far!  So happy that this painting is finally getting the attention it deserves.  It was created with so much joy….joy that should fill others too. 🙂

A special promotion is still going on here…DO NOT MISS!

Life is just a fantasy, can you live this fantasy life? ~Aldo Nova

owfotografik's avatarAbstract Art by Omaste Witkowski

Fantasy Life

What do you see here? I am loving the blue color I have invoked. It sits calmly in the center of the screen just waiting for your eye to wander there. What is is and where did it come from. Is this blue void going to swallow us whole or just wait patiently until our eyes are ready to melt into it. Explore all of the textures and color variations. I have painted many wondeful mysteries into this scene.

I enjoy digital painting and photography. My images are all representative of this. I like to start with my camera and see what I can discover and then go to my computer and again see what I can discover. Art is a discovery process for me when I am free to create. I like to let my imagination wander and see what I come up with. Not all of it is…

the many moods of godzilla

wpcphoto's avatarwilliam patrick photo

I just couldn’t resist doing this one! Also, my top 5 favorite trivia facts about the original 1954 film, courtesy of IMDB.

1. The name Gojira is a combination of the Japanese words for gorilla (gorira) and whale (kujira). The monster was so named because his original design was that of a gorilla-whale monster, which is recounted by people who worked on the film.

2. Because of the complexity of the production, the entire film was storyboarded. This is believed to be the very first time this was done for a Japanese film.

many moods of godzilla small

The Many Moods of Godzilla is available as a print here.

3. It was not uncommon for a cup of Haruo Nakajima’s sweat to be drained from the Gojira suit.

4. The sound department tried numerous animal roars for Godzilla but felt they were unsuitable for an animal of such immense size. Akira Ifukube came up with Godzilla’s roars…
