Heaven Conquers Hell an Abstract Adventure

Boring wall syndrome is a very real affliction and the prudent decorator will take pains to avoid this unpleasant condition. My painting above will be the perfect medicine as it brings an adventure into your home. Come away with me to an exciting land that is available for interpretation. Boring is not a term that exists here and if you want to rediscover light into a dark place then order a print today and see for yourself the joy that it comes packaged with.

As I was painting this picture I was taken away myself. The colors here are intoxicating to my senses and I really got carried away to another place. I see light and joy conquering pain and hurt expressed in red tones. So this painting is an adventure and such a victory at the same time. A story that has a…

Heaven and Earth an Abstract Painting

I often wonder what heaven will look like and in my mind I am picturing this place. Elements of it are familiar and yet is is completely unknown and impossible. The colors are vibrations that are alive and shapes are not quite shapes. They consist of mist and magic. what is here and how it is interpreted are all up to the beholder. I look deeply in here and I find myself lost in beauty and imagination. What do you see when you contemplate in this abstract mixture of elements?

CAT FANCY

What is it with cats online?  We seem to have an extreme fascination with them…..cartoon cats…serious kitties….cats with cool fur….ugly cats…pretty cats…hairless cats….kittens of every color.  Cats!!  I am now more of a dog person, but I have had my share of feline’s in my lifetime.  Growing up we had “barn cats” that kept the rodents out of the horse’s food. I also had my own personal house cat named K.C. May who picked my sock drawer to have kittens in.  She lived to be 16 and was a Manx.  I loved her dearly and had a hard time when she passed because I was 18 and had her my entire childhood.  These days I prefer the online versions….so many to choose from and no kitty litter to clean up. 🙂   Enjoy some of my most popular kitties here:

Love is love.  As I fused this painting together I immediately saw hearts forming in several places, but it was only when I looked further that I saw that there were two beings holding a heart between them.  The two halves made one heart.  One love.  I particularly like that these two beautiful souls appear to not have gender, status or anything that makes them different from each other.  Just two people bonded in love.  Love is love…..

As an artist I often create “pretty” things that people love and buy to decorate their homes.  There is nothing wrong with decorative work and I enjoy making it.  However, in this new series called “The Looking Glass” I am getting in touch with a more visceral side of my being.  I am allowing images to form without thought of decor matching or mass appeal.  I am just “being” and what forms forms.  This painting titled “The Samurai” is very powerful to me.  It evokes strong emotions of strength but also of protection and safety.  I’d like this to hang in my entry way to my home.  The colors and image are strong, but the essence is soft and comforting.  What does he make you feel?

Look What I Found!

I have really been enjoying creating my new series “The Looking Glass”.  It is so fun and interesting to see what appears when I fuse my original paintings together.  With this piece the entire image formed a dog.  I do see a smiling frog in the center of his forehead and two horses flanking his noggin, but I just found a dog.  Your dog?  It looks like a Universal Dog to me.  It could be any breed and any size.  I love the semi-abstract nature of this painting.  I have found many things in these works, but I really seem to have a knack for finding dogs.  I found this one below in Mastiff Rescue of Florida recently:

Who knows what I will find today……

Rocky Mountain Autumn Storm

Rocky Mountain Autumn Storm

This is the very first image shot and out of my camera from my Autumn 2013 trip that started with a scary early morning drive over the pass and through the tunnel on I-70 and then south to Leadville.  The snow was beautiful with the colors but the driving in it was not so fun.  Anything can happen this time of year in the Rockies.

Namaste Means Letting Go

sharoncummings's avatarAbstract Art by Sharon Cummings

The word Namaste is an ancient Sanskrit greeting meaning, “The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you” – a knowing that we are all made from the same One Divine Consciousness.  For me it means “Letting Go”.  Recently I have been struggling with the betrayal of a friend.  Years of trust were lost when they allowed their jealousy and inner bitterness to dominate their thinking.  I have had to overcome a lot of suffering in my lifetime from sexual abuse to the suicide of a parent, so I am no stranger to forgiveness and letting go.  But for some reason this one person and the actions they chose really got to me. In the scheme of things he and our falling out are seemingly insignificant.  But in this morning’s meditation, I have discovered the importance of this life event.  I have been having negative feelings toward him which is…

Snakeskin Goddess

There is an intensely creative part of me that sees emotions in color and when I look at this photograph I see so many shades of love and life. Macro photographs of glass are so much fun. I was enthralled for many months using a variety of lights and lenses to capture as much color as I could from many art objects. Glass vases and ornaments and cups and plates and many many more. I spent hours and hours each day painstakingly cataloging each inch of each artwork. The result of all this love is a a series of photographs and galleries full of light and color and various shapes. Taken together they are pretty and so very colorful, and one by one you can really study the subtleties and vibrancy that each contains. Visit my Peacock Vase Gallery to see more
