There is so much seriousness in art these days, that I sometimes feel a need to “lighten” it up a bit.  I have a very quirky sense of humor and I’d like to think it shows through in my artwork sometimes.  Here is Mystic Moose for your contemplation.  I hope he makes you smile. 🙂

While I still have pieces from my old portfolio to share, I’ve been busy creating new work as well.  I’ve got a few paintings, some patterns and also animals coming soon!  I just wish there was more time in the day…

Pretty In Pink Garden Art

I really love flowers and the Peony is no exception. This pretty pink example of one was found in my Pacific Northwest garden. I look forward to their vibrant blooms in the spring/summer and it is always a treat to see just how many blooms are ushered in each year.

I am really enjoying combining my photography and using a layering technique to isolate bloom from background. I enjoy the painted effect in the back and the clarity and light of a photograph on the main subject. Lots of fun incorporating textures into photographs.

On July 14th 2014, we were driving home through a Thunderstorm and witnessed multiple lightning strikes and heard the ominous rumblings of thunder all around us. Passing through Carlton we saw a fresh spot of fire on a hillside visible from Highway 153. I was struck by the idea that this small fire might turn into something much larger if it was not put out soon. Little did I know at the time there were many more small fires started by lightning that evening. Over the course of a few days many of these small fires were fanned into a much larger complex of burning acreage that came to be known as the Carlton Complex. Starting Monday, getting big by Wednesday, we lost power on Thursday and by Friday more than 300 homes were lost to the flames. The fire would eventually cover 256,108 acres (400.2 sq mi; 1,036 km²). We had…
